Fully owned by the ‘godfather’ of China’s smartphone industry: BBK Corp.

Year Established: 2009

Headquarters: Guangdong, China

Parent: BBK Electronics, China

Our Findings

Why should you buy a Vivo phone? To take a selfie. Because that’s the only USP the brand seems to have. Vivo is another brand owned by the BBK Electronics Corporation, China and is a sister company of OnePlus, Oppo and Realme. If Vivo launches a feature, in a few months, these other companies also launch phones with the same features, and vice versa.

Maybe in a different world, Vivo and Oppo could happily live together as siblings. They share the same design philosophy, pretty much the same UI, are owned by the same Chinese company, have headquarters in the same city and generate profits for the same set of Chinese investors. It’s easy to see why you should stay away.
