Nokia
For the ones who love a bit of nostalgia
Year Established: 1865
Headquarters: Espoo, Finland
Parent: HMD Global, Finland
Our Findings
Nokia is now owned by HMD Global, a mobile phone company based in Finland. Nokia does however have a presence in China, but that’s only limited to the production of network and telecommunications equipment. So, it’s safe to assume that almost all consumer devices made by Nokia do not originate from China. Although there was once a controversy where a Nokia 7 Plus owner claimed his phone sent data packages in an unencrypted format to Chinese servers. The company later clarified that no personally identifiable information was shared with any third party. The issue was due to an error in the software packaging process in a single batch; which was soon fixed through an update.
Reliability thy name is Nokia. It is one of the best alternatives out there if you are looking for a non-Chinese smartphone.
