Our Findings
If you were to ask someone to name one Indian mobile brand, the chances are that they will name Micromax – it’s that popular. The company shot to fame in the consumer electronics market post-2015 through its affordable range of televisions, air conditioners, washing machines, etc. that soon became popular with budget-conscious customers. However, once the Chinese brands came to India, the market share of Micromax started to decline. In 2018, they saw a massive 42% decline in their sales.
Although Micromax has four production units in India, a bulk of their components are imported from China. Micromax might look like an Indian company, but it’s hard to overlook their ties with China. So make sure you check the product label for the country of origin before incorrectly assuming that the product was made in India.
