A lesser known Chinese brand with global reach.
Year Established: 2013
Headquarters: Hong Kong, China
Parent: Transsion Holdings
Infinix Mobile is a Hong Kong-based smartphone company founded in 2013. The brand was born after the French mobile manufacturer Sagem Wireless was acquired in 2011. Today it is owned by Transsion Holdings, China. The company has R&D centres in Korea and France with manufacturing facilities in 6 countries including India and China.
Don’t go by its name, Infinix is huge and has a presence in over 30 countries around the world. Although Infinix is popular in Africa and Middle Eastern countries, it is yet to capture the attention of Indian consumers mostly due to its low powered hardware, build quality and service issues. The fact that it is headquartered in Hong Kong and is owned by a Chinese entity makes it hard to recommend.
